Congratulations to Celeste Schneider on her 2nd place finish yesterday at the Pittsburg High School Golf Tournament held at Crestwood Country Club!

Vision and hearing screening reports completed at Jayhawk Elementary will be coming home in backpacks today. Please watch for them, and contact our school nurse if you have questions.

Thank you for making attendance and punctuality a priority. We also appreciate your help following our health guidelines by keeping your kids home when they are sick. As you track your child's attendance through the years, here is something to keep in mind. A child who misses 17 days per year starting in PreK, will have missed an entire year of accumulated school days by the time they are a sophomore.

Schedule Change: Saint Paul notified us this morning that the Varsity/JV Volleyball Triangular this week has been moved to Thursday, 9/29 at Saint Paul. Varsity and JV teams will play at 5pm and 6pm.

Dear Parents, if you see an extra charge on your lunch balance, please realize we have to charge 40 cents if your child gets an extra milk. Even if your child qualifies for free meals, we have to charge if they want an extra milk. If a child qualifies for a free lunch and brings their lunch from home, we have to charge 40 cents if they take a milk. One milk carton is free only if they take a school lunch. Please call if you have questions.

JES school pictures will be sent home with students in their backpacks today. Retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, October 19. Lifetouch wants students who need retakes to bring their original picture packet back to the camera and give it to the photographer on October 19.

Congratulations to Celeste Schneider on her 6th place finish at the Fredonia Girls Golf tournament yesterday. Celeste has now placed in the top 10 in all 4 of the tournaments Jayhawk Linn has competed in this season!

JES will attend the Homecoming Parade on Main Street tomorrow afternoon weather permitting. Please dress your children for the predicted temperature and send them in comfortable walking shoes.

Schedule Change Monday September 26th the Junior Varsity football team will now be traveling to Lyndon for an 8 man JV game at 6pm. The regularly scheduled game at Marmaton Valley was cancelled due to not enough participants for Marmaton Valley.

Jayhawk Linn was well represented yesterday at the 1st annual three rivers league sportsmanship summit at Uniontown High School. Students from each of the league schools listened to presentations from officials, administrators, coaches, and students on the topic of building sportsmanship within our league. They then broke into small groups and shared ideas and created public service announcements that will be shared with everyone at the beginning of games later this year. Jayhawk Linn participants were Brenna Umphenour, Adison Randall, Bryton Spencer, and Jason Taylor.

Breakfast and Tardies at JES: The car line opens and breakfast is served starting at 7:30 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. If your student rides the bus, they should have plenty of time to eat. If you drop your child off in the morning, please help us make sure they arrive in time to eat and get to class by 8:00 a.m.

The Girls Golf Tourney in Erie tomorrow has been postponed until October 6th due to forecasted weather conditions.
