A beautiful day today at 3-2-1A Girls State Golf Tournament in Hesston, Kansas. Celeste Schneider and Camryn Thomas represented the Jayhawks well today at day 1 of the tourney. Camryn had a tough day but had a few great shots along the way and finished out a great Senior season. Celeste had a very solid day and qualified for day 2 with an 87 for her round of 18, which starts her out tomorrow in the top 10! Celeste will tee off at 10:20am tomorrow and everyone can follow the scoring for the tournament at highschoolgolfscores.com as she shoots for an individual medal at the State Tournament. Counselor Brett Kramer and Community Connections Instructor Chasity Ware will present Senior Financial Aid/Scholarship Information at 6:30 on Thursday, October 19 in Mrs. Ware's room. There are major changes to the FAFSA this year that will be discussed as well as scholarship updates and where to find weekly senior updates. Seniors- please bring your iPad with you if you and your parents want to get signed up for your FAFSA ID during this presentation.


JES will have a Scholastic Book Fair during conferences. The fair will only be open during the conferences Tuesday, October 17, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, October 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. These are the only times our fair will be open, so please do not send money with your child during the school day.

Our Lady Jayhawks Volleyball team travels to Saint Mary’s Colgan Tournament tomorrow, October 14th to finish off the regular season play. The Jayhawks compete in pool play starting at 9am against Oswego, followed by Cherryvale at 10am and St Mary’s Colgan at 11am. Bracket play will start after 1pm depending on pool play record. Admission is $5 adults and $4 students. Good luck Lady Jayhawks!

Good Luck to our Jayhawk Linn Football team as they take on the Olpe Eagles tonight at 7pm in Olpe. This game will determine the district championship! The game will be broadcast over the radio on KVOE Country 101.7 FM out of Emporia. Good Luck Jayhawks!

Great finish to a fantastic season last night by our Jayhawk Linn Junior High Cross Country teams. Both boys and girls teams have had strong performances all season! Last night at the Three Rivers League races we had the following placers in the junior high. Daniel Brake won the 8th grade boys race! Martin Shillito won the 7th grade boys race! Lily Meyer won the 8th grade girls race! Allie Thomas, Gabby Parsons, and Josie Wade were all in the top three of their races! Ryland Summers and Jayden Mayhugh also finished in the top 3 of their races. Congrats to Coach Long, Coach Spitzenberger and the Junior Jayhawks on a great season!


Congratulations to our Jayhawk Linn Varsity Boys Cross Country Team for their Team Championship at the Three Rivers League Race last night at Southeast Cherokee. Dillon Champlin was the League Champion in the varsity boys race. Simon Shillito placed 3rd and Louis Shillito placed 5th. Brylee Doleshal place 6th in the varsity girls race. Great work by our varsity teams as they prepare for the 2A Regional Cross Country races held at the Greenbush Course next Saturday, October 21st. The girls race will start at 10am and the boys race will be ran at approximately 11:10 am.


Congratulations to the Jayhawk Linn Junior High Football team on finishing their season last night at home with 44-18 win against West Franklin. The Junior Jayhawks finish with a 5-1 record on the season.

Kansas Apply Free Days November 7-9, 2023
Kansas's first Apply Free Days will be held on November 7-9th, 2023, for Kansas residents! During these three days, any Kansas resident, regardless of age or income, can apply for free at any of our 7 public universities, 19 community colleges, 6 Technical colleges, and the 21 private member institutions of the Kansas Independent College Association. Eligible programs include general applications, certificate programs, associate degree programs, and bachelor degree programs. (Graduate programs or other mid-degree applications will not qualify.)
All institutions will still have application fee waivers available during the entire year for students who qualify for financial hardship. Those forms will not be required during the Apply Free window. (Remember- Kansas Community Colleges, PSU, Washburn U, and many of our private institutions never have general application fees. They are free to apply to everyday!)

Congratulations to our Lady Jayhawk Golfers today at 3-2-1A Girls Golf Regional at Village Greens Golf Course hosted by Jefferson West! Both of our varsity girls golfers qualify for the 321A State Tournament to be held next week at Hesston! It was a great day for Celeste Schneider and Camryn Thomas who both qualified. Celeste finished 6th overall with a 89, and Camryn shoots her best ever score by double digits today to shoot a 98 and qualify for the state tourney! Be sure to congratulate them on their success and wish them luck next week at State!
