We witnessed one of the best days for Jayhawk Linn Boys Track Team in school history today! The Jayhawk Linn Boys team won 7 medals at the 2A state track meet in Wichita in the last 24hrs and come home 7th as a team in 2A. The Jayhawks dominated the hurdle races in 2A. In the 110 meter hurdles Senior Gus Grote (15.43 sec) completed his Senior year with a State Championship! Junior Trenton Broyles (15.77sec) was the runner up in the 110’s and Junior Ryan Broyles (16.37sec) finished 7th.
Ryan Broyles then picked up the Jayhawks 2nd State Championship of the day in an exciting 300 meter race finishing 1st with a time 40.61 sec!
The Jayhawks other state medals came in field events where Junior Cooper Johnson finished 8th in the high jump, with a jump of 6 ft and a great performance by Junior Gabe Springer and Sophomore Truman Schneider in the pole vault resulted in Gabe placing 3rd with a vault of 12’ 6” and Truman placing tied for 6th with an 11’ 6” vault! Congratulations to all of our state medalist, state participants, and Coaches on a great season!

Congratulations the Jayhawk Linn Track Team on their success at the 2A Regional Track Meet yesterday at Erie High School. The team has qualified 20 individuals to compete next week at the 2A State Track Meet in Wichita! Jayhawk Linn Boys team finished 3rd overall and the Girls Team finished 6th overall out of 15 teams!

Jayhawk Linn Varsity Track Team travels to Erie for the 2A regional track meet today! Start time for a few field events (Boys Javelin, Boys Pole vault, Girls High Jump) is 2pm and the rest of the field events start at 3pm. Prelims races begin at 4:30pm and finals at 5:30pm . Admission is $8 adults and $6 students.

Linn County Health Department will host the Second Safe Sitter Essentials class. This class is for grades 6th, 7th and 8th. Must have completed 6th to attend. This class prepares students to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings or babysitting. During this class, students will learn hands only CPR. The cost of the class is $25, with lunch provided. Class time is from 9am- 2pm on the 22nd of May. Please call to register: 913-352-6640

This class will prepare students to be safe at home when they are alone., something that may be new to them as summer approaches and parents are working. The cost of this course is $20. Congratulations to Brevin Mendenhall on his 7th place individual finish in the 2A Regional Golf Tournament at Eureka Golf Course today! His finish qualifies him for the 2A State Tournament at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City next Monday and Tuesday! Great Job Brevin!
The Lady Jayhawk Softball team wins their quarterfinal regional game tonight at home vs Oswego 16-1 in 3 innings. They advance to the semifinal round to be held tomorrow at 3pm against St Mary’s Colgan. All regional games tomorrow will be played at the Humboldt Sports Complex in Humboldt, this is due to field conditions at Erie. Entry fees will again be $8 adult/$6 student. If the Jayhawks win the semifinal game they will advance to the championship game against the winner of #3 Northeast Arma and #7 Erie who will play after the Jayhawks game. The championship game should start around 7pm if games stay on schedule. Good Luck Lady Hawks!!
2/1A Regional Softball Bracket
Jayhawk Linn host opening round with the #1 seed. Semifinals and finals are being hosted by Erie High School in Erie, KS.
Jayhawk Linn Regional Softball is scheduled to start tomorrow 5/13. The Lady Jayhawks are the 1 seed in the regional, so we will host the playin game tomorrow at 4pm at Mound City between Oswego and Colony-Crest. The Lady Jayhawks will then play the winner of that game at 6pm at Mound City. Due to this being postseason play gate fees of $8 adults/$6 students will be charged to get in to the games. Jayhawk USD 346 is looking to work with local ranchers and producers for meat products to supplement our Food Service program. A Participation Request has been posted on the District’s website and is also available at the link below. Individual requests can also be sent via email by contacting the District Office, to the attention of Wendi Baldwin at wbaldwin@usd346.org. Bids will be accepted through June 30, 2024.
