The 6th grade had the opportunity to hear from local rock climbing expert Michael Meyer. Meyer was able to relate his learning and love of rock climbing to the text “The Dawn Wall” a photo essay of Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson’s experience climbing the route to El Capitan, which we read together in class. Meyer has had multiple climbs in the state and in Missouri, Colorado, and Maine. Meyer also shared climbing gear as the students asked questions and listened to some of Meyer’s experiences.
