Today March 17th, 2020 Governor Laura Kelly announced all school facilities will close for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This does NOT mean we are not going to provide an education to the children. We are working with the Kansas State Board of Education to develop alternative learning opportunities in a comprehensive “continuous learning plan”. To plan and prepare for the remainder of the school year there will be “no school” for students next week March 23rd -27th.
Next week our staff will meet and will develop plans that are different than how schools have operated in the past. We will build a plan together to provide “continuous learning” for the remainder of the school year by use the following strategies: (one or all of the following)
1. Face to face learning - bring smaller groups of students to school (while others stay home) and keep them in groups of 10 total (students and staff)
2. Online learning (e-learning) of some type
3. Packet learning (by sending learning packets home).
We will get through these tough times together. Things are still changing daily, so these recommendations might change. Additionally, these are unprecedented times, but rest assured, we care about our students and are going to do everything we can to meet their educational and nutritional needs.
